An Open Source Framework SDK for Development of 2D Shooting Games

ICAI 2015

Various kinds of game engines and SDKs (software development kits) have been released for game development, which support a wide range of game developers from beginners to experienced developers. Most game engines or SDKs provide various kinds of functions in order to support various kinds of game genres, i.e., they widely and shallowly provide many functions. Consequently, if game developers would develop a full-fledged game by using a game engine, they have to develop a huge number of genre-specific functions on the engine. In this paper, we focus on a 2D shooting (2D STG) game genre, and develop an open source framework SDK that provides common but genre-specific functions in the 2D STG game genre. Thus, game developers can develop a 2D STG game efficiently by using our SDK.
