Automatic Generation of MIDI Performance Animation for Conducting Virtual Orchestra

IWAIT2013

Our system can represent the situation close to the one a conductor actually conducts orchestra. We have developed a system that a user can experience conducting orchestra.
We have already proposed a system that it recognizes and calculates the conductor's baton movement chart and its beat information when a user conduct with baton with LED installed toward the infrared sensor, our proposed system. With the change of the conducting tempo, music performance control is available with MIDI data.
Normally, MIDI data doesn’t have any information on performance information including such as slur. This paper is to report that our system can offer the visualized representation of performance actions of instruments- up and down of bow of stringed instruments, sliding movement of wind instruments such as trombone.- by estimating such performance information from MIDI data.
