Representation of City Landscape Illuminated by Negative Light Sources

IWAIT 2014

In the virtual space, we can create and express the phenomena that are not realized in the real space. One of such phenomena is the negative light source, which is a light source that reduces the brightness of the surface it illuminates. The negative light source is the phenomenon contrary to the normal light source. In the space illuminated by the negative light source, the surface that is not illuminated is the brightest one.
We have developed the shader for negative light sources. By using it for rendering, we realized a unique city landscape with reversed light contrast.
